Ramat Gan Municipality

21.11.2022

Fighting violence against women, the Ramat Gan municipality placed posters throughout the city with the warning signs of a dangerous relationship, in collaboration with the Michal Sela Forum.

Dozens of women gather in the hall.

The Minister of Education Dr. Yfat Shasha Biton talks about the unbearable and widespread phenomenon of domestic violence, and about a program in the field of gender in schools, Member of Knesset Shirly Pinto seeks to raise awareness of the silenced, unspoken phenomenon of violence against women with disabilities. The stories are difficult, the numbers disturbing.

I go on stage, take a deep breath and show the clothes: Inside this garment there was once a woman, and she is no more. I am excited to talk again on stage with Shira Isakov, we hug tightly and Shira said: after Aviad gave me more than a hundred blows with a rolling pin on my skull, after the doctors called my parents to come and say goodbye to me, I survived against all odds to be an inspiration to other women to embark on a new path and tell the story of their lives. I ask her, do you believe in karma? Do you believe this is your destination in life?

We end the conversation with the new love story in her life, a healthy, equal, respectful relationship: “I never thought I would fall in love like that again in my life. It was so unexpected and surprising.” Shira is exposed in public, and encourages other women to speak openly about the violence they experienced in their homes. She’s so brave. So beautiful.
