At the initiative of the Israeli Embassy in Athens, under the auspices of Greek President Katrina Sackleropolo and in collaboration with the Greek Michael Cacoyannis Foundation, this evening opened in Athens to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women with our exhibition.

The clothes of Elani, a 21-year-old Greek woman who was the victim of a rape and murdered by a group of men, were also on display at the show.

Israel's Ambassador to Greece Yossi Amrani emphasised the call from Israel, inside and around the world,  to end domestic violence against women, regardless of a particular country or society, a social effort is needed to educate against violence.

Throughout the day, seminars were held on various topics related to dealing with the phenomenon. The exhibition was presented in Greece over the three weeks accompanied by seminars and visits by organised groups of students and high school students, and received unprecedented journalistic coverage.
