Gender Equality Conference

On April 11, 2019, we were honored to take part in the Gender Equality Conference in Geneva, held at the Campus des Nations which is part of the International School of Geneva - a high school campus for the children of diplomats from around the world.

7 more women rights activists from around the world were invited to the conference - an Ethiopian lawyer, activist against female circumcision from Somalia, a Toronto documentary director with a film on women's suffrage in Switzerland, an economist dealing with gender inequality and more. This impressive conference was held for the future generation of activists and social activists and diplomatic staff. We met smart, attentive and curious girls and boys.

The installation was presented throughout the conference and received exciting and touching responses from students, faculty and other visitors alike. In addition, we conducted two workshops in which we discussed with students social injustices, activism and the use of art as a tool for coping, expression and social impact. Finally, we participated in a panel in the presence of other conference guests and discussed the issue of (gender) inequality, feminism, activism and its daily challenges, the desired and existing relationship between different social struggles and thoughts about the future.

After the ceremony, we held successful meetings with members of the Israeli delegation to the UN and with representatives of the European Union to the UN on human rights. We received a sympathetic ear and a desire to help us make the project international, while finding partners from around the world to display the installation as well as to collect local clothes of victims for the cross-national exhibition and cultures planned for the UN building in New York.
